Angus Taylor has been pre-selected as the Liberal candidate in Hume to replace retiring warhorse Alby Schultz. Taylor was Schultz’s preferred candidate, and he has been quoted in the Goulburn Post as saying he only retired because a candidate of Taylor’s calibre was available. The Nationals are still grumbling about whether they will contest the seat, with the front runners being Senator Fiona Nash and State MP Katrina Hodgkinson. Looks like the Libs and Nats will face off against Labor in a three-cornered contest and throw a lot of cash at beating each other instead of focussing on their common enemy. Should be an interesting election.
