The Goulburn Post has put together a great candidate’s gallery ahead of the pre-selection for the Federal seat of Hume, which takes place this Saturday. Come Sunday, we should know who has been chosen to follow on from retiring MP Alby Schultz.
Here’s what the Post had to say:
- “Angus Taylor, 44, Sydney and Goulburn-based management consultant, co-founder of Growth Farms Australia, with $300 million in agricultural assets under management across NSW, Rabobank farm leadership programs director.” Read More.
- “Rick Mandelson, 51, Mittagong-based chartered accountant, former accounting and finance executive with a number of large companies. Also owns small businesses in Hume.” Read More.
- “Ross Hampton, 47, Yass based olive grower, former media and policy advisor to Howard Government ministers Peter Reith, Ian Campbell and Brendon Nelson.” Read More.
- “Ed Storey, 42, Yass-based grazier- businessman, secretary of Liberal Party Yass branch, executive councillor and member of wool committee of NSW Farmers Association, un-paid director of “Futter Park” Limited, Harden, which provides scholarships for The King’s School, Parramatta.” Read More.
It is interesting to note that there are no women and the youngest of them is 42. Further, they have all had significant business careers and could be considered quite wealthy. It would be interesting to see if they are all hard-core conservatives like the retiring Mr Schultz or whether any of them actually embrace the word ‘liberal’. We’ll do our best to put the pre-selected candidate under that microscope.
